Friday, May 26 6:30pm – 9:30pm - The MGDs
What began as a co-op band of 3 long-time friends in 2008 has evolved into a “potent high-energy musical powerhouse”.
Now regulars at The Phoenix on Friday nights, The MGDs present a passionate blend of Kansas City funk and blues. Each week, they follow triple-threat Lonnie McFadden onto the Phoenix stage, and the crowd is primed for this six-piece lineup to showcase their mix of piano and brass complemented by a groovin’ rhythm section. They say these soulful stylings serve up an electrifying experience and serve to add a unique new flavor to the iconic Kansas City sound. May 26 is the MGDs first time here at Holy-Field Winery and our very first evening concert of the season. So please, welcome them to the family. Influences include a variety of classic and modern sounds from New Orleans, Memphis and other mid-states river towns, such as our hometown Kansas City.
